A flagship campus in PNG’s Garden City.
The establishment of the Lae Campus in Morobe Province in 2004 marked the inception of the first ITI Campus and the second-largest campus in terms of student numbers and facilities. Lae Campus started with three staff and the first enrolled student is 8. The campus relocated from Able Computing Building, Vocopoint, to Dickson’s Door in 2006 and is now situated at Pacific Palms Property (Steamship Building), near Lae Main Wharf.
As the capital of Morobe Province and the second-largest city in Papua New Guinea, Lae is strategically located near the delta of the Markham River and at the start of the Highlands Highway, the primary land transport corridor between the Highlands region and the coast. The city is well-known as the Garden City and acts as the largest cargo port in the country.
The campus has modern facilities continually upgraded to cater to the student population’s needs. It comprises modern lecture rooms with advanced teaching equipment, such as projectors and computers. The campus has state-of-the-art computer labs and a library. In addition, the ITI Lae campus offers facilities such as a bookshop, first aid room, conference room, canteen, and backup generator. All rooms are fully air-conditioned, providing a conducive learning and working environment for students and staff alike. The entire campus is fully networked and has access to the internet.
Since its inception, ITI has held 44 graduation ceremonies, testifying to its commitment to human resource development in Papua New Guinea.
International Women’s Day is celebrated every March at the Lae campus. Women are the backbone of every family, and this day is dedicated to seeking gender equality, raising awareness about existing inequalities, and advocating for a future where women have equal rights and opportunities.
One of ITI’s commitments is blood donation, which is essential in creating a healthier life for the community. By donating blood, our students and staff are giving back to society meaningfully. Every September, our students celebrate Independence Day on campus. They take pride in representing their unique cultures from the vast highlands, coastal regions, and islands.
