
THE International Training Institute launched its first bachelors’ program in Accounting and Finance in Lae last week Friday, making it the private institute in the country to have a degree program.
ITI’s chairman and co-founder, Senthil Kumaran Sentheyval said, the degree program was developed based on international standards.
“The program has been reviewed by many people from different countries, and its last review was done by DHERST through one the universities in Australia before it got approved”, Mr Sentheyval stated.
He added the institute’s degree in accounting program is recognized by CPA PNG, which will enable their graduates to undertake the registered accounting graduates program.
“We are also working with the James Cook University to create a pathway for the MBA program, once you complete the degree program from here” Mr Sentheyval added.
“Over the next couple of months, we will be working with other partners to expand our degree program to go into masters program in local and international universities as well”, the chairman stated.
Students enrolling for the bachelor of Accounting and Finance program are eligible for the government’s help loan and TESAS.
CPA-PNG Lae branch president, Vincent Kumo, the launch of the bachelor program is a step towards professional development in the country.
“This not only marks an institutional advancement, but a defining step in the pursuit of academic excellence and professional development in PNG”, Mr Kuma remarked.
He commended ITI for their commitment to providing quality education and contributing to the nation’s economic growth.
“Since its founding, ITI has upheld a profound commitment to quality education, equipping students with the expertise required to excel in business, finance and related disciplines.
“Through its well-established programs, ITI has played a powerful role in fostering talent, strengthening industries and contributing towards the nation’s economic growth”, Mr Kumo added.
He said, the launching of the institute’s degree program is a testament to their unwavering dedication to higher learning and professional excellence and commended their vision.
President of Lae City Chamber of Commerce, John Byrne said, also commended ITI for adapting with change.
“Nothing starts without vision, and learning, and one thing that ITI is doing is adapting, learning and changing”, Mr Byrne said.
ITI’s bachelor in Accounting and Finance program will only be offered in their Port Moresby and Lae campus, starting next year.
