THE education division in East New Britain will partner with private institutions in its delivery of this vital service to the local populace.

Provincial education adviser Wilson Kairat made the commitment last Saturday at the opening of the International Training Institute (ITI) Kokopo campus.

He said the delivery of education needed input by both the government and private institutions, and ITI was one such partner.

Kairat also welcomed the newly-introduced 1-6-6 structure, saying it was a system that would keep everyone, especially youths, in the system.

“The new arrangement is for everyone to have a basic education from preschool to grade 12 … after grade 12 is another issue, “he said.

He also congratulated and thanked ITI for setting up in East New Britain, encouraging the institution to work closely with provincial division.

“We have to ensure our students, after grade 12, are given the opportunity to continue further to attain certificates, diplomas and degrees.”

Businesswoman and Tropicana Limited managing director Dame Sandra Lau commended ITI for establishing its campus in Kokopo, and pledged her undivided support towards the institution.

She also announced a donation of three new computer sets to the institution.
