THE International Training Institute (ITI) in Lae opened two new computer labs to improve its facilities and deliver ***quality education to students***.
ITI co-founder and chairman Senthil Kumaran Sentheyval acknowledged the growth of ITI since 1999, and this will be its 25th year of operation in the country.
He said the institution was improving gradually with the assistance of stakeholders, staff and students.
The institution will now have four computer laboratories that will be serving students who studied at ITI.
“In these two new labs, we have 20 computers for corporate students in the other lab, and 30 for fulltime students in the other lab,” Sentheyval said.
“So now, we will have about 150 computers in place to serve our students. “We also installed a new generator because we have so many computers now.”
Sentheyval said the institution targeted quality, therefore, it would gradually improve to an international level.
“We are upgrading our closed-circuit televisions, vehicles, renovation and installation of digital boards in Lae and Port Moresby, and we are also now offering small-to-medium enterprise as well as tourism and hospital diploma programmes, “he said.
“We will be offering an accounting and finance degree programme, which was approved last year by the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology.”
According to Sentheyval, about 600 student had registered so far, and they were expecting the number to increase to 700.
He said the institution would continue to improve its facilities and programmes to meet the demands of the growing population.
“Lae is a growing centre, and with all these growing projects, there will be more employment and the demand for staff will be high, “Sentheyval said.
“Therefore, ITI is preparing students with quality training under proper facilities to grab the best job opportunities.”
Meanwhile, according to him, ITI has graduated 25,000 students over the last 25 years.
