ACADEMIC EXERCISE AND ASSESSMENT

1.             ASSESSMENT

1.1.   Assessable academic assignments and projects must be submitted in on the due dates.  Any late submissions must be accompanied by legitimate medical documents.  Those without plausible reasons will be penalized by way of mark deduction in the form of 10% per day from the total marks available or in cases where it is warranted, total rejection. Any queries regarding the above should be brought to the HOD's or Director of Studies immediately in writing.

1.2.   Students with queries relating to assignment questions, marking and grading should confer with concerned lecturers prior to the finalization for the assessment. Those students who fail to notify lecturers will not be allowed to re-do the assignments.  In event of a fail (F) grading,  as a result of late submissions, the student will be required to re-do the course by paying fully for the particular subject, pass it and then become eligible to graduate.

1.3.   Cheating and / or plagiarism is considered as a serious academic offense.  Any student who is caught or is suspected to have submitted a work that demonstrates some element of plagiarism will be called in by the lecturer concerned and referred directly to the Head of Departments and thereafter to the Director of Studies.

1.4.   If a student found to be cheating or plagiarizing, a zero (0) grade will be awarded for that particular assessment. Continuous cheating or plagiarism by a student will warrant termination of the student from the Institute and all fees will be forfeited.

ASSIGNMENT PROCEDURES

All assignments must be submitted to the respective Lecturer only. Do not pass assignments to lab assistances, administrative staff or marketing staff.

The guidelines are:

  • You are required to keep a copy of any assignment that has to submitted, as an assignment may occasionally be lost in the system.
  • Due date is the date on which your assignment should be submitted. You may be asked to provide proof of submission date.
  • A penalty of 10% of the total grade may be applied for each late day for late submission of assignments.

Type of Assignments

 a. Written Assignment

  • All assignments (except disk) are to be submitted with a cover page clearly indicating student name, group, and assignment name, due date and the Lecturer's name.

 b. Disks

  • ITI is not responsible for damaged disks. However, lecturers will take all precautions to prevent it from being damaged.
  • It is always advisable to retain a copy of all disks you submit.
  • Remember to label the disk with your name and due date.

GRADING CRITERIA

If you receive a result of fail, you will be required to re-enroll in the subject in order to gain credit. You will not be graduating if you fail any of the subjects.

If you wish to query any result or grading of any assessment, you should contact the Lecturer of the subject within five (5) days of receiving your result. After the five days the Lecturer may not be able to attend your query or your query will not be entertained at all.
